Camden County Prosecutor Warren Faulk and Haddon Township Police Chief Mark Cavallo reported a break-in Sunday that left an elderly woman injured.

The 83-year-old victim is wheelchair-bound and was home alone when a man came to the door of her Collings Avenue home in Haddon Township at 7:15 p.m. He threatened to kill her if she didn’t give him money. She briefly struggled with the assailant and was able to press a Life Alert device around her neck.

The man took cash from the woman’s purse and fled. Life Alert notified the Haddon Township Police. When they arrived they found the woman had sustained bruises and lacerations. She declined treatment at a hospital.

The attacker was described as a white man standing about five feet, six inches tall, with a medium build and blue eyes. Anyone with information is urged to contact Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Gerald Torres at (856) 225-8617 or Haddon Township Detective Tim Hack at (856) 854-1176.
