Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo, Stratford Police Chief Ronald Morello and Gloucester Township Police Chief Harry Earle reported a woman shot to death in her hospital room Wednesday morning by her husband.
A search of the couple’s home subsequent to the shooting led to the discovery of the couple’s son, also shot. An investigation is ongoing to confirm links between the two scenes.
Raymond Wychowanec, 63, visited his wife, Denise, 62, about 9:25 a.m. Wednesday in her hospital room at Kennedy Hospital on Laurel Road in Stratford. She was a patient at the hospital. According to witness statements and evidence, he shot her multiple times in the hospital room, then turned the gun on himself.
She was pronounced dead at Kennedy. He was flown to the trauma center at Cooper Hospital in Camden and was in critical condition there Wednesday afternoon.
After the shooting Stratford Police contacted Gloucester Township Police and requested they conduct a well being visit at the couple’s home on the 800 block of Price Avenue in Glendora. While there, Gloucester Township Police discovered Ryan Wychowanec, 35, fatally shot.
Detectives are analyzing evidence, including ballistics evidence, to confirm the two shootings are related.
