Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Winslow Township Police Chief George Smith reported a shooting that resulted in the death a Salem man, and a Winslow woman who was critically wounded.
Winslow Township police responded to a 9-1-1 call of a man and woman who had been found shot inside of a residence on Woodhaven Way early this morning.
When officers arrived, they located the victims, Derek White, 47, deceased, and a 35-year-old female seriously wounded inside the residence. Both suffered from apparent gunshot wounds. The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital where she is receiving treatment.
The detectives learned that there were two children missing from the home, ages two and three, who were not in the residence when police arrived which initiated an investigation to locate the missing children.
The children had been missing since approximately 4:30 a.m., and were last seen with their father, a 55-year-old Pennsville man, in the Salem County area. Police located his vehicle traveling near the initial Winslow scene and initiated a pursuit. The multijurisdictional chase started in Winslow Township and ended in Millville in Cumberland County.
The missing children were located safe at approximately 12:30 this afternoon in Salem County.
