Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson reported the indictment of two people in connection with a Camden homicide.
Isaac Bruce, M/24 and Sophia Faulkner, F/31, both of Camden, were indicted on charges of Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Attempted Murder, Kidnapping, Hindering Apprehension and various weapons offenses. Additionally, Bruce was indicted on a count of Murder and Faulkner was indicted on a count of Accomplice to Murder. A Grand Jury handed up the 17-count indictment Wednesday.
Bruce is alleged to have shot Marvin McClinton, M/21, of Clementon, in the face with a shotgun at a home on the 1800 block of S. 6th Street in Camden in the early morning hours of February 17, 2014. Bruce is also accused of shooting at a witness who escaped uninjured.
Faulker is alleged to have conspired with Bruce in McClinton’s killing and is accused of firing a handgun at the witness.
After the murder, Bruce, Faulkner and a third person went to Atlantic City and rented a motel room. The defendants allegedly told that man about the killing then threatened him not to tell anyone and took steps to prevent him from leaving the motel room. The man was able to escape after the defendants fell asleep.
Bruce and Faulkner returned to Camden later that day and were arrested by Camden County Police. At the time, Bruce was found to be in possession of a handgun.
All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
Released Monday, December 8, 2014.
