Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo, Haddonfield Police Chief Ted Stuessy and Cherry Hill Police Chief Bud Monaghan reported two men were arrested Friday for robbing a pizza delivery driver in Haddonfield.
Michael Deshields, 25, and Chris D. Ward Jr., 23, both of Magnolia, are charged with Robbery, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
Deshields and Ward are accused of robbing a pizza delivery driver who had just finished making a delivery on Potter Street shortly after midnight Friday. During the robbery, one of the men is alleged to have brandished a black handgun and pointed it at the victim. The suspects then fled with a small amount of cash.
The victim immediately called 911 and provided a description of the suspects and a maroon Ford Explorer seen speeding away from the area. A short time later, Deshields and Ward’s vehicle was stopped by Cherry Hill Police.
At this time of his arrest, Deshields was found to in possession of about three grams of cocaine in several small bags. He was charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance with Intent to Distribute and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.
Bail was set at $159,000 for Deshields and $145,000 for Ward. Both were held at the Camden County Jail.
All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
