Camden, N.J. – Detectives have arrested two men in reference to a homicide in Camden over the weekend, announced Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez.
Mihkael Greene, 19, and Nysar Streater, 21, both of Camden, were charged on Sunday, May 15, 2022 with first-degree Felony Murder in connection to the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Yahmir Catoe of Camden. Both men are also charged with second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
On Saturday, May 14, 2022, at approximately 10:19 a.m., officers from the Camden County Police Department responded to the area of the 1000 block of Lakeshore Drive in Camden in reference to multiple 911 calls regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located Catoe lying on the ground in a nearby park suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at approximately 4:22 p.m.
During the investigation, detectives determined that Greene and Streater were attempting to rob Catoe when Greene fatally shot Catoe. Streater, who was physically restraining the victim, was also shot in the hand by Greene during the robbery.
Streater was treated at Cooper University Hospital and taken into custody at the hospital on Saturday, May 14, 2022. Greene was taken into custody in Camden at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2022 by members of the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force – Camden Division and the Camden County Police Department.
