Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson reported two people have been charged in a 2013 Camden homicide.

Wilbert Shiveley, 24, of Camden, was arraigned Friday in Superior Court on a Felony Murder charge in the death of 19-year-old William Custis IV.

Custis, a Camden resident, was found fatally shot in the driver’s seat of a 1986 Honda Civic that crashed into a fence in the area of Louis Street and Atlantic Avenue in Camden shortly before noon August 11, 2013.

Shiveley and an 18-year-old Camden resident are accused of killing Custis in the course of a robbery. Both are alleged to have been passengers in Custis’ car when it crashed.

The younger male suspect, who was 17 at the time of the alleged crime, was charged on a juvenile petition with Felony Murder and ordered detained at a hearing earlier this week.  Prosecutors will be filing a motion seeking to have his case waived to adult court.

Shiveley is currently incarcerated in state prison on a separate offense.

Superior Court Judge Edward McBride set Shiveley’s bail at $1.5 million full cash.

All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

Released Friday, November 7, 2014.
