Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson reported two overnight homicides in Camden.

Camden County Police responded to reports of gunfire shortly before 4:40 a.m. Sunday at Front and Vine streets. Officers were unable to locate a victim. Shortly thereafter, police were informed a gunshot victim had arrived at Cooper University Hospital in a private vehicle.

The victim, Armir Lee Thomas-Money, M/24, of Camden, had been shot once and was pronounced dead at 5:54 a.m.

Shortly after 6:30 a.m., police responded to reports of gunfire at Louis and Chase streets. Officers found Wesley L. Nelms, M/20, of Camden, on the porch of a residence in the 1100 block of Chase Street. He had been shot once.

Nelms was taken by ambulance to Cooper and was pronounced dead at 6:54 a.m.

Detectives do not believe the killings are related. Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
