Isaiah Tanner, 21, Javon Elliott, 22, and Elijah Wilcox, 31, all from Camden, were charged in connection with a shooting that killed Everardo Alegre-Cortes.
Everardo Alegre-Cortes, 22, was shot and killed on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, during the course of an alleged robbery. Camden County Police were called with reports of a person who was shot at the intersection of Wayne Avenue and North 24th Street in Camden at approximately 9:38 p.m. When officers arrived, they located the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Cooper University Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
Isaiah Tanner, Javon Elliott and Elijah Wilcox were charged with first degree Felony Murder according to Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson. All three were also charged with Murder, Armed Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery. Tanner and Elliott were also charged with weapons charges.
Isaiah Tanner was charged on April 17, 2019 and was being held in the Camden County Correctional facility on unrelated charges. Javon Elliott and Elijah Wilcox were both charged on April 18, 2019. Elliott, who was apprehended in Camden on April 19, 2019 during a motor vehicle stop, and Tanner were both ordered to be detained by the Honorable Judge McBride yesterday after a scheduled pretrial detention hearing.
Elijah Wilcox was apprehended in Philadelphia yesterday at approximately 6:30 p.m. by the United States Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force. Wilcox is currently awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
The investigation is ongoing.
All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
