Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Gloucester City Police Chief Brian Morrell announced a Syracuse, New York man has been arrested and charged with attempting to lure a minor for the purpose of engaging in a sexual relationship.
Stephen Epolito, 37, is charged with a second-degree crime of attempting to lure a child via electronic means to a meeting with the purpose of committing a criminal offense.
The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit working in conjunction with Homeland Security Investigations, the Gloucester Township Police Department, and the Gloucester City Police Department arrested Epolito in Gloucester City on Thursday, August 4th after Epolito engaged in a cyber chat with undercover investigators believing that he was chatting with a 14-year-old female. Epolito then drove from Syracuse, New York to Gloucester City to meet with the child in order to engage in sexual activity.
Epolito was remanded to the Camden County Jail on $100,000 full cash bail.
