Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk reported the sentencing Friday of two men charged in two 2010 armed robberies in the county.

Superior Court Judge Gwendolyn Blue sentenced Alexander Belen-Lara, M/30, of the Ablett Village Apartments in Camden, to a term of 24 years incarceration found on two counts of 1st degree Armed Robbery, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Terroristic Threats. Belen-Lara must serve 85 percent of that sentence before he is eligible for parole.

On May 31, 2010, Belen-Lara committed two armed robberies with a gun within minutes of each other in Cooper River Park. One took place near the Lobster Trap Restaurant in Pennsauken, and the other near the Subaru Building in Cherry Hill. Belen-Lara then fled in a car driven by Fred Belen, M/23, also of the Ablett Village Apartments.

Blue sentenced Belen to eight years incarceration on a count of 2nd degree Conspiracy and two counts of 3rd degree Theft for his role as Belen-Lara’s getaway driver in the Pennsauken and Cherry Hill incidents.

Both men were found guilty in December 2012.
