Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson reported a rash of heroin overdoses this morning that have law enforcement concerned about the safety of drug users coming into the city to purchase narcotics.
The Camden County Police Department received reports of five people experiencing drug overdoses between approximately 7:45 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday in Camden. A sixth overdose victim was reported shortly after 2:40 p.m. today. All of the victims were transported to Cooper University Hospital in Camden for treatment.
One victim, a 39-year-old man whose last known address was in Lawnside, did not survive. The other victims included a 23-year-old Bordentown woman, a 45-year-old Lawnside woman, a 47-year-old Camden man, a 43-year-old National Park woman and a 29-year-old man whose address was not available.
All of the overdoses are believed to be related to heroin use. The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and Camden County Police Department are currently investigating the origin of this dangerous drug.
