The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office is urging residents to be alert following reports of a telephone phishing scams.
Telephone phishing scams are attempts by “scammers” to trick you into giving them your personal information such as date of birth, social security number, bank account number and credit card numbers.
In this latest incident, a Camden County Resident received a call from a caller from the 773 area code. The caller identified herself as being with the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office. She claimed to be working a case and requested personal information from the resident. The caller was in fact not with the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.
Please be aware that phishing cases like these occur frequently and can be presented in many ways. The caller will tell you anything to get you to give them your personal information. The public should never provide personal information to anyone over the phone.
Detectives are actively investigating this matter.
