Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk reported a volunteer firefighter pleaded guilty Wednesday to stealing more than $40,000 from a Bellmawr fire company.

Chad Jurman, M/22, of Bellmawr, pleaded guilty to 3rd degree Theft Wednesday morning before Superior Court Judge Donald Stein. Jurman admitted to taking $41,159.50 from the Bellmawr Park Fire Company while serving as the department’s treasurer. He became treasurer in January 2012 and the theft took place from April 2012 to January 2013, when the theft was discovered by the department. The theft was reported to police in January. Jurman has paid back the full amount taken from the department.

As part of his plea, Jurman will be sentenced to a term of probation to be determined by Judge Stein. He also has forfeited his right to hold public office, including his right to serve as a volunteer firefighter.

His sentencing is scheduled for May 3.
