Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Merchantville Police Chief Wayne Bauer announced a Grand Jury has returned an indictment on a Pennsauken man in connection with a fatal shooting in Merchantville.

Isaiah Pascall, 23, was indicted on first-degree murder in the death of 21-year-old Joshua Simmons of Pennsauken on February 22, 2016.

Pascall is accused of fatally shooting Simmons on the unit block of Russell Avenue. The shooting occurred shortly after a physical altercation involving an isolated group of individuals at that location.

Merchantville Police were dispatched to the area at approximately 8:31 p.m. for a report of an unconscious person.  Officers arrived and located Simmons lying on the sidewalk.  He was suffering from a gunshot wound and was transported to Kennedy Hospital in Cherry Hill, where he was pronounced deceased at 9:07 p.m.

All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
