Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Merchantville Police Chief Wayne Bauer announced a Pennsauken man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Merchantville.
Isaiah Pascall, 23, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 21-year-old Joshua Simmons of Pennsauken.
Pascall is accused of fatally shooting Simmons on the unit block of Russell Avenue on Monday, February 22, 2016. The shooting occurred shortly after a physical altercation involving an isolated group of individuals at that location.
Merchantville Police were dispatched to the area at approximately 8:31 p.m. on Monday for a report of an unconscious person. Officers arrived and located Simmons lying on the sidewalk. He was suffering from a gunshot wound and was transported to Kennedy Hospital in Cherry Hill, where he was pronounced deceased at 9:07 p.m.
Pascall was arrested and charged last night following an interview with detectives at the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office. He was remanded to the Camden County Jail, where he is being held in lieu of $750,000 bail pending a future arraignment date.
All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
