Camden, N.J.– Detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old man in Camden on Friday afternoon, reported Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez.

On Friday, June 17, 2022, at approximately 11:59 a.m., officers from the Camden County Police Department responded to the 1200 block of Decatur Street, Camden, New Jersey, in reference to a ShotSpotter activation. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim lying on the ground and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Detectives from the Camden County Police Department Shooting Response Team (SRT) also responded to the scene.

The 37-year-old male victim was later identified as Charles Copling, III of Camden. Officers transported the victim to Cooper University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at approximately 4:00 p.m., by Doctor Danielle Defeo.
