Camden, NJ- Detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a 31-year-old man in Camden on Tuesday evening, reported Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez.

On Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at approximately 9:24 p.m., Camden County Metro Police Department received a ShotSpotter activation for shots fired at 721 State Street, Camden. Responding officers arrived on scene and located a male victim, identified as 31-year-old Luis Vazquez-Garcia suffering from apparent gunshot wounds inside of a vehicle. Vazquez-Garcia was transported to Cooper University Hospital by responding units and pronounced deceased at 9:34 p.m., by Dr. Echeverria-Ramos of Cooper University Hospital.

This is an ongoing investigation between the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Camden County Police Department.
