Camden County Prosecutor Warren Faulk and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson reported a man arrested in Lawrence, Mass., Monday in connection with an April homicide in Camden will be arraigned today.

Jonathan Cruz, M/23, of Camden, is scheduled to be arraigned today, June 18, at 3 p.m. in courtroom 45 of Superior Court of Camden County. He is charged with Murder.

Cruz is accused of killing Ernesto Torres, M/24, of Camden, on April 3, 2014, on the 2700 block of Lincoln Avenue in Camden. It is alleged Cruz confronted Torres on Wayne Avenue after a series of ongoing disputes between the defendant and victim. Cruz is alleged to have drawn a gun on Torres and fired at him as the victim fled toward Lincoln Avenue. Torres was struck multiple times.

Members of the U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Fugitive Task Force tracked Jonathan Cruz, M/23, of Camden, to Lawrence and took him into custody there, He had been staying with a relative in Massachusetts. Cruz had been sought by the Marshals since May 24, when a warrant was issued for his arrest.

All persons charged with criminal offenses are innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
