Communication with the news media is coordinated through the Public Information Officer (PIO). Responsibilities include collecting information and data, composing and distributing press releases and media advisories, responding to media inquiries, crafting strategic messaging through the CCPO social media accounts, and producing original video content. The PIO arranges press conferences and coordinates crime scene media briefings when necessary.
The PIO serves as an advisor to the Prosecutor on public relations, policy, and administrative issues and acts as a liaison to federal, state, county, and municipal representatives, departments, and agencies.
PIO Donna Weaver is available at all times to respond to all media inquiries. All questions from media outlets should be directed to Ms. Weaver.
Donna Weaver serves as the Public Information Officer (PIO) at the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office. She has previously served as the Public Information Officer, social media coordinator and Media Relations Instructor at the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office and Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office. For a decade, Donna worked as a news reporter with the Press of Atlantic City, reporting on law enforcement and crime in South Jersey. She is a former contributing writer for NJ COPS Magazine where she wrote extensively about New Jersey law enforcement news and issues. Donna serves as a regular guest lecturer on media relations at the FBI National Academy at Quantico, the FBI Criminal Investigations Division. She has also lectured at the Bergen County Police Academy, Kean University-Ocean, the College of St. Elizabeth and St. John’s University’s Criminal Justice Program.
Donna is a former contributor on police media relations to the New Jersey State Division of the International Association for Identification Conference. She has conducted lectures for law enforcement officers around New Jersey, including the New Jersey State Fraternal Order of Police. In 2014 and 2015, she lectured on public safety media relations, at the annual conference for the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. In 2016, Donna appeared as a guest speaker at the Atlantic City Juvenile Police Academy. Donna was the 2015 Keynote speaker for the Black History Month Law Enforcement Awards, at the College of Saint Elizabeth Police Studies Institute. She is the recipient of the 2015 Law Enforcement Appreciation Award from the National Black State Troopers Coalition, Marshall C. Brown Chapter. She is a recipient of a fellowship through the American Society of News Editors Minority Leadership Institute. Donna is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where she received a bachelor’s degree in English Writing & Political Science.
