Winslow Township, N.J. – Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Winslow Township Police Chief George Smith are announcing charges in a fatal motor-vehicle crash that occurred in November, 2021.

Azuka Ossai, 54, of Pine Hill, N.J. was arrested on March 10, 2022.  He has been charged with second degree Vehicular Homicide by Operating a Vehicle Recklessly and causing the death of 51-year-old Sean Hughes of Harleysville, PA. Ossai was also charged with fourth degree Assault by Auto.

On November 13, 2021, at approximately 7:28 a.m., officers responded to a motor-vehicle crash involving a Mercedes SUV and a Ford SUV at the intersection of Fleming Pike and Hays Road in Winslow Township.

The victim, who was operating the Ford SUV, sustained serious injuries. He succumbed to those injuries that same day at approximately 10:19 a.m. A child victim who was a passenger in the Ford SUV also sustained serious injuries in the crash.

An investigation determined Ossai, who was operating the Mercedes SVU, went through a stop sign without stopping and crashed into the Ford SUV. Ossai was also traveling above the posted speed limit.

Ossai was processed on the above charges and released the same day pending Court.

All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
