Caribe Sewell, 19, of Camden, was charged with shooting and killing Chontay Green on February 4, 2018 in Camden.

When Camden County Police responded to the 1700 block of Tioga Street they found the victim, Chontay Green, 26, of Ogdensburg, New Jersey, on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced deceased at the scene at approximately 12:22 p.m.

During the investigation, detectives were able to identify Caribe Sewell as the alleged shooter which resulted in him being charged.

On August 20, 2018 Caribe Sewell was charged with first degree Murder according to the Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson. He was also charged with Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.

Caribe Sewell was ordered by the Honorable Judge Morris Smith, J.S.C., on August 23, 2018 to be detained in the Camden County Correctional Facility while awaiting further court proceedings. He is expected back in court for the this charge on September 10, 2018 in front of the Honorable Judge David Rangonese J.S.C.

All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
