On January 24, 2020, John Beauzile, 25, of Sicklerville in Winslow Township, was charged with Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Accident and Operating a Motor Vehicle in an Accident with a Suspended License, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Winslow Township Police Chief George Smith.
At approximately 10:34 p.m. on January 22, 2020, Winslow Township Police were responding to a report of an unconscious man on Williamstown Road. When they arrived, they located the victim, James Lawrence, 47, of Williamstown, who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle, lying on the road. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he died a short time later. During the investigation, authorities were able to locate the alleged vehicle that fled the scene.
John Beauzile was processed on a Summons and released pending further court proceedings.
All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
