Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Pennsauken Police Chief John Coffey announced a Burlington County man has been charged for allegedly stealing in excess of $189,000 from his former employer.

Frank C. Santos, 53, of Southampton, was arrested on Thursday at his residence by detectives from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Special Prosecutions Unit with assistance from the New Jersey State Police (Red Lion barracks).

Santos is accused of stealing the funds from MCR Services, a property management business based in Pennsauken, while he was working there as a bookkeeper. The thefts began in November 2013 and ended in March 2015 when he was terminated from the position.

Santos allegedly used the money to pay off two personal credit cards. The cards were used to cover a variety of charges including hotel stays and meals, motorcycles, ATVs, clothing, liquor, video games and appointments at salons and waxing centers.

The owner of the company eventually discovered the missing funds and notified Pennsauken Police. Santos was charged with second-degree theft by unlawful taking and was remanded to the Camden County Jail on $75,000 bail.

Released Friday, July 31, 2015.
