Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson reported a Camden man has been arrested in connection with the city’s first homicide of the year.
Vincent Coleman, M/29, is charged with Murder in the killing of 27-year-old Vincent Burnett of Camden.
Coleman is accused of shooting Burnett multiple times in the area of Thurman and Pershing streets in Camden Monday afternoon. A witness stated Coleman had recently warned Burnett to stay away from that area.
Burnett was transported to Cooper University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:57 p.m.
A U.S. Marshals Task Force took Coleman into custody Tuesday afternoon at a Chase Street residence in Camden.
He will be arraigned today at 3 p.m. before Superior Court Judge Michele Fox in courtroom 35.
All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
