Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk and Lindenwold Police Chief Thomas Brennan reported a homicide in the township Wednesday afternoon.
Robert Beppel, M/67, of the first block of Wright Avenue in Lindenwold, is charged with Murder in connection with the killing of his wife Marian Beppel, F/65, at their home. The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma. It appears the killing took place on April 16 but she was not found until Wednesday. Police responded to the scene after a relative of the victim received a letter Wednesday from the defendant indicating there had been a violent incident at the home.
Officers found Robert Beppel at the home when they arrived at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. He was taken to JFK Stratford Hospital for psychological evaluation and was charged Thursday.
An arraignment has yet to be scheduled.
All persons charged with criminal offenses are innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
