Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson reported a juvenile has been charged in connection with two Camden shootings, including one that killed another teenager.

The suspect, a 17-year-old female from Camden, was charged today with first-degree murder in the death of 13-year-old Nathaniel Plummer, Jr.

Plummer, also of Camden, was found fatally shot in the area of Beacon and Line streets on the night of January 7. Camden County Police had responded at approximately 11:15 p.m. that night in reference to a ShotSpotter activation and 911 calls reporting a shooting. Officers arrived and located Plummer lying on the sidewalk. He was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 12:14 a.m. on January 8.

The suspect has been held at a juvenile detention facility since January 9 when she surrendered to Camden County Police in connection with an October 2015 shooting.

In that incident, Camden County Police responded at approximately 1:16 p.m. on October 30 to the 2600 block of Mickle Street in reference to a ShotSpotter activation. Officers located the shooting victim, a 19-year-old male from Camden, in the area of 27th and Stevens streets. He was taken to Cooper University Hospital for treatment.

Ballistic evidence aided detectives in linking the suspect to both shootings.

The suspect was charged in the 2015 case with attempted murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon and aggravated assault.

All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

Released Wednesday, January 27, 2016.
