Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk, Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson and Pine Hill Police Chief Chris Winters reported two arraignments Tuesday for men arrested and charged with murders in Camden County, and a third scheduled for Wednesday.
The three murder investigations are unrelated.
In a hearing Tuesday morning, Superior Court Judge Lee Solomon ordered Stefan Curry Beckett, M/29, of Philadelphia, held on $1.5 million bail in connection with the stabbing death of Michael Cogan, M/26, of Pine Hill. Curry Beckett, charged with Murder and Felony Murder, is accused of stabbing the victim about 4:50 a.m. Monday in the 2600 building of The Greens at Pine Hill. Curry Beckett was arrested shortly after the stabbing.
A suspect in a Camden homicide, Jamal Brown, M/24, of Camden, was also arrested last night and arraigned today. Solomon ordered Brown held on $2 million bail in connection with the June 24 killing of De’quan Rogers. Brown is charged with Murder for killing Rogers and Attempted Murder for shooting another man in the same incident, a 19-year-old who survived his injuries. The two victims were sitting on the front porch of a home on the 1000 block of Morton Street when they were shot multiple times.
A third defendant, John Dean, M/24, of Camden, was also arrested Monday night and charged with Murder in connection with the shooting of Elizabeth Cooper, F/30, of Camden, on Sunday. She was shot multiple times in the 100 block of Eutaw Avenue in Camden about 2:30 a.m. A second victim, a 24-year-old Camden man, was also shot once in the left leg. He was being treated at Cooper Hospital in Camden.
Dean is scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m. Wednesday before Judge Solomon in courtroom 36 of the Hall of Justice.
All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
