Camden County Prosecutor Warren Faulk and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson reported Wednesday a shooting involving a 12-year-old child last week appears to have been accidental.

The victim was shot in the face about 8 a.m. Friday at his home in the Crestbury Apartments. An 11- year-old child not related to the victim was responsible, but after interviewing both children investigators determined the shooting was not intentional. Neither child was aware the weapon was loaded.

The victim is recovering at Cooper Hospital in Camden.

Investigators are still pursuing leads to determine who the gun belonged to and how the children were given access to it.
