Camden, N.J. – This week’s installment of “CBS 3 Mysteries” featured the unsolved murder of Edward DuPont, 53, who was fatally attacked in Camden over the summer.

Reporter Joe Holden interviewed CCPO Homicide Detective Lance Merrill about the Tuesday, July 6th incident. DuPont was struck in the head by an unknown male outside a convenience store at 7th and Pine Streets. That hit caused DuPont to fall off his bicycle and hit his head on the pavement. He succumbed to his injuries on July 25th.

Holden also interviewed DuPont’s sister, Angela, who called the attack on her brother “cowardly.”

“(Ed) was happy,” she told Holden. “He had a gift of gab like he could charm you out of anything and people liked him. And I know where this incident took place, that someone had to see something. It’s a heavily trafficked area, foot traffic all the time. Someone knows, someone saw.”

Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Camden County Metro Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez announced a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the man responsible for the homicide.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Merrill at 609-789-3766 or Camden County Police Detective Edward Gonzalez at (856) 757-7042.
