Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo announced a Parking Authority of the City of Camden (PACC) worker has been charged for stealing funds from his employer.
Joseph R. Belfiore, 62, of Bellmawr, faces one count of theft for allegedly stealing $765 in cash while working at a PACC parking garage on the Camden Waterfront on May 5, 2012. It is alleged Belfiore had collected parking fees from patrons, but failed to submit the proceeds to the PACC.
The investigation began after the PACC reported suspicious behavior by Belfiore to police. Detectives from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Special Prosecution Unit determined Belfiore had allegedly stolen the funds based on financial records and other evidence.
Belfiore, who has worked for the PACC for 17 years, was served with a summons today. He is due to appear in court on August 20.
Anyone with information about the possible theft of funds from the PACC is urged to call the Special Prosecutions Unit at (856) 225-8469.
All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
Released Wednesday, August 12, 2015.
