Camden, N.J. – A Camden man has been arrested and charged in connection to the fatal stabbing of a woman, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez.
Kacheim Davis, 31, of Camden, has been charged with one count of first-degree murder in the homicide of Christine Pierce, 41, of Camden.
On Jan. 30, Camden City Firefighters were dispatched to an apartment on the 800 block of Haddon Ave. around 9 p.m. on Jan. 30 for a report of smoke detectors going off. Once inside, they located and extinguished a small stove fire before finding Pierce unresponsive with a stab wound to her back in another room.
Pierce was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Through an investigation, it was determined Davis was at Pierce’s house the day of the crime and the two had been arguing.
Davis was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force – Camden Division and the Washington Township Police Department. He was transported to the Camden County Correctional Facility where he is awaiting a detention hearing.
All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
