Camden, N.J. – A Camden man was arrested and charged on Dec. 2 in connection to the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old Camden man, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Camden County Police Chief Joseph Wysocki.
Eric H. Williams, 21, of Camden, has been charged with one count of first-degree Murder and third-degree Hindering Apprehension.
Police said Carl James, of Camden, arrived at a hospital on Sept. 23 around 11:15 p.m. suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Detectives said James died from his injuries on Sept. 24.
Through a thorough investigation, detectives learned the information Williams provided as a reported witness did not match the evidence. Detectives further located evidence that identified Williams as the shooter.
Williams was transported to the Camden County Correctional Facility awaiting a detention hearing.
All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
