Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson announced a Camden man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday (5/5/16).

Victor Rodriguez, 31, was charged Saturday as an accomplice in the murder of 22-year-old Jonathan Vasquez, of Camden. He was arrested by the Camden County Police around 8 p.m. on Saturday.

On Thursday, Camden County Police responded at approximately 6:31 p.m. to the 1000 block of South 4th Street in Camden in reference to 911 calls and a ShotSpotter activation for multiple gunshots.

Officers arrived and located the victim suffering from gunshot wounds lying on the ground. He was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at approximately 6:40 p.m.

Rodriguez was remanded to the Camden County Jail on $1,000,,000 bail.

All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
