Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson announced a Camden man has been arraigned in the fatal shooting that occurred Thursday (5/5/16) in the city.

Superior Court Judge John T. Kelley ordered Victor Rodriguez, 31, held on $1,000,000 full cash bail Monday afternoon in the death of 22-year-old Jonathan Vasquez of Camden.

According to a probable cause statement issued by assistant prosecutor Christine Shah, Rodriguez is an accomplice in the shooting of Vasquez on the 1000 block of South 4th Street in Camden.

On Saturday, Rodriguez was arrested by the Camden County Police around 8 p.m. and he was charged as an accomplice in the murder of Vasquez.

On Thursday, Camden County Police responded at approximately 6:31 p.m. in reference to 911 calls and a ShotSpotter activation for multiple gunshots. Officers arrived and located the victim suffering from gunshot wounds lying on the ground. He was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at approximately 6:40 p.m.

Rodriguez was remanded to the Camden County Jail.

All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
