Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson reported a Camden man has been arraigned in the fatal shooting that occurred Friday (5/20/16) in the city.
Superior Court Judge Edward J. McBride Jr. ordered Lehjye Waring, 24, held on $1,000,000 full cash bail Thursday afternoon in the death of 24-year-old James Rhodes of East Orange, N.J.
According to a probable cause statement issued by assistant prosecutor Peter Crawford, Waring is accused of fatally shooting Rhodes around 9:20 p.m. on May 20 on the 2800 block of North Constitution Road in Camden.
Camden County Police responded to the 2800 block of North Constitution Road in Camden in reference to a ShotSpotter activation. Officers found the shooting victim lying in the alleyway located between the 2800 block of North Constitution Road and North Congress Road. He was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 9:40 p.m.
Waring was remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility.
All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
