Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson reported a Camden man has been charged in connection with the April slaying of his former girlfriend.

Jose Quinones, M/36, of the 600 block of North 9th Street in Camden, was charged with Murder Friday in connection with the death of Madaline Morales, F/27, of Camden, his former girlfriend.

Morales was found stabbed at a home on the 500 block of North 9th Street about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday on April 23, 2013. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Quinones is accused of stabbing Morales 51 times in the home of a friend she had been staying with since moving out of the home she shared with Quinones on 9th Street. She had filed a temporary restraining order against him on April 15, 2013.

Quinones suffered numerous stab wounds as well and remains in treatment at Cooper Hospital in Camden. It is unclear whether he stabbed himself or was injured in his struggle with Morales.

All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent unless and until found guilty in a court of law.
