Today, April 20th, marks the 27th anniversary of the tragic deaths of Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Investigator John “Jack” McLaughlin and Haddon Heights Patrolman John Norcross, both of whom were fatally shot in the line of duty.
On April 20th, 1995, these brave officers were attempting to execute a search warrant in reference to a child abuse investigation at a home on Sylvan Drive in Haddon Heights when the suspect began firing at them. Detective Rich Norcross, who served in the Haddon Heights Police Department and later as a CCPO Agent, was also shot multiple times and severely wounded.
Today, tomorrow, and every day, we remember the sacrifice of Investigator John “Jack” McLaughlin, Patrolman John Norcross, and Detective Rich Norcross.
These heroes will never be forgotten.
Our thoughts are with the McLaughlin and Norcross families, and those who were honored to have known these men. If you’d like to learn more about their acts of bravery, you can watch a 30-minute documentary created by film students at Rowan University or read more about McLaughlin and Norcross on the Officer Down Memorial Page.
